Abbott Hospital urban exploration

Screwed is buried in the possessions of the presumably-late Tony Zych

Urban adventuring does have its poignant moments, even when you're not enjoying a rooftop vista. When moving day came around in November 2004, it seems that one fellow didn't make the transition - a first floor room was piled with Tony's last remaining possessions. This consisted mainly of dozens of suitcases, each with his name painted on the outside (with various spellings), and filled with sloppily but lovingly-made model cars. I can't even guess how many there were. The assembled models were accompanied by sealed cans of model car parts, hand-painted and sorted by type (motors, wheels, etc). While living in the Transitional Care facility, Tony also enjoyed collecting seemingly random clippings from magazines and writing fragments of nonsense on them. Advanced senile dementia would be a safe guess.

We were pretty silent as we looked through the room full of left behind objects - I don't know about the others for sure, but after awhile, it really started to yank on some of the ol' emotions, reading the shaky notes left behind by a fading, dissolving mind - like the last faint and flickering glow of a dying star, just now reaching us from across space.

Rest in Peace, Tony Zych.
